Your skin is always telling a story. A stretch of poor sleep, a stressful few months, hormonal shifts, time in the sun, the pace of a full life: all of it has a way of showing up on your face.
Most skin treatments focus only on what’s visible. Integrative Microneedling looks at the whole story.
It renews your skin while caring for the body beneath it, so you leave looking refreshed and feeling calmer, more grounded and more like yourself.
Here’s what makes it different, what it can do for your skin and your wellbeing, and why we so often recommend it as a series.
What is Integrative Microneedling?
Integrative Microneedling pairs Procell microchanneling with East Asian medicine to renew your skin and support your body.
Traditional microneedling is focused on one thing: creating tiny channels in the skin so it responds by producing fresh collagen and elastin. That process is still at the heart of the treatment we offer, and is wonderful for texture, tone and firmness.
Integrative Microneedling simply looks further. It sees your skin as connected to everything else going on in your body: your circulation, your stress levels, your hormones, your nervous system and the meridian pathways of East Asian medicine.
As our Esthetician Team Lead Amelia Vargas puts it: “We really see the health of the skin and the beauty of the skin as a reflection of what’s going on internally. And we work with all of that.”
Amelia, a lisenced acupuncturist and esthetician, co-developed the Integrative Microneedling Method and now teaches it to acupuncturists and estheticians around the world. It means the care you receive in our treatment room comes straight from one of the practitioners who created and teach it.
How Does East Asian Medicine Shape Your Treatment?
Your esthetician reads your skin as reflection of your whole body, so each treatment is shaped around you rather than a one-size-fits-all routine.
In East Asian medicine, different areas of the face are linked to different systems within the body. Congestion, dullness, redness or uneven tone can all offer clues about what’s happening beneath the surface, from circulation and stress to digestion and hormonal balance.
So rather than simply asking “how do we fix this spot?” we ask “what is your skin trying to tell us?”.
That understanding guides your treatment and helps us care for the root of a concern, not just the part you see. It’s the whole-body philosophy behind everything we stand for at JLounge.
Stimulation, Not Inflammation: Why We Use Procell
More isn’t better with Microneedling. Gentle, precise stimulation gives your skin signal to repair itself without unnecessary inflammation.
It’s easy to assume that deeper, more agressive microneedling must work harder. In reality, when your skin only needs a clear, gentle signal to begin it’s own renewal. Pushing further can create extra inflammation, which slows healing and can leave sensitive skin more reactive.
That’s the thinking behind our choice of the Procell Microchanneling System. Instead of dragging across the skin like many microchanneling pens, Procell uses a gentle, precise tapping motion, much like the plum blosson technique used in East Asian medicine for centuries.
The result is cleaner, more even microchannels, gentler healing and less redness.
These microchannels open tiny pathways for our growth factor and DNA repair serums to reach the layers where real repair happens.
Growth factors encourage healthy cell renewal and collagen, while DNA repair enzymes support your skin in correcting damage at a cellular level.
The result is skin that renews itself, rather than being forced into a quick fix.
What Does an Integrative Microneedling Session Feel Like?
It feels less like a procedure and more like a pause.
Tuning forks are placed on acupressure points, along with gentle pressure on your feet, hands and head, giving your body time to settle and shift out of “go mode.” Many people find this is the moment they finally exhale.
Once you’re grounded and your body is in a healing state, the microchanneling begins. It feels stimulating rather than painful, often like a gentle warmth or light tingling, and many people don’t need numbing cream at all. Nourishing growth factor serums then sink into your freshly treated skin, and we finish with care to protect and soothe. Our JLessencials Rose Complete CBD Serum is used in this treatment to reduce sensitivity and inflammation.
You’ll leave with skin that may feel a little tight and look slightly pink for a short while, with minimal downtime. Most of all, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve been properly looked after.
What can Integrative Microneedling Do for You?
It supports smoother, clearer, firmer-looking skin while helping your nervous system settle, so the benefits reach far beyond your reflection.
People come for an Integrative Microneedling for all kinds of reasons. For some it’s softening fine lines as an alternative to botox and smoothing texture. For others it’s a more even tone, working with hyperpigmentation, scars, calming breakouts or redness, or skin that simply feels stronger and more resilient. Whatever brings you in, the aim is the same: skin that looks healthy, rested and still like you.
But because this treatment works with your whole body, the benefits don’t stop at the surface. Integrative Microneedling can also support a calmer, more regulated nervous system, deeper and more restful sleep, digestion and overall balance, and a lighter mood. A calm, settled body is better able to repair and renew, which is part of why skin and wellbeing improve together.
Many people come in for their skin and leave feeling like they’ve had a full reset. It’s one of our favorite things about this treatment.
Why Add Celluma LED Light Therapy?
Celluma LED adds red and blue light to your session, each with its own role in helping your skin heal & repair.
It gives your skin’s natural repair work a helping hand, so your results arrive sooner, go deeper and stay with you for longer. What makes it such a thoughtful pairing is that light isn’t one-size-fits-all. Different colors support your skin in different ways.
Red and near-infrared light are all about renewal. They boost blood flow and oxygen to your skin, encourage fresh collagen and soothe inflammation, helping your skin bounce back from treatment sooner.
Blue light, meanwhile, focuses on repair and clarity. It switches on DNA repair enzymes, which help undo damage from UV exposure, and it does this remarkably quickly. Daylight takes around an hour to activate these enzymes; blue light does it in a matter of minutes. It also works against the bacteria behind breakouts and helps calm inflammation, which makes it especially helpful if breakouts or sun damage are something you’re working on.
Both kinds of light support faster healing and a quicker recovery, so your skin can make the most of every session.
Integrative Microneedling for Hyperpigmentation
Dark spots and uneven tone are often a sign of what’s happening within. Integrative microneedling supports repair at the source, not just the surface.
Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common reasons people come to us, and it’s a perfect example of why the integrative approach matters.
Dark patches rarely appear out of nowhere. Sun exposure speeds up the cells that produce pigment, but it usually amplifies activity that was already building beneath the skin. Common contributors include:
- Hormonal shifts, such as during pregnancy or perimenopause, which can make certain areas more reactive
- Low-grade inflammation from stress, diet or internal imbalance
- Marks left behind by earlier breakouts or overly aggressive treatments
- Stress and an overworked nervous system, which influence how pigment is produced
In East Asian medicine, pigment changes are seen as a reflection of what’s happening inside, such as sluggish circulation, excess heat or imbalance in the body’s systems. That’s why brightening creams and peels alone can bring short-lived results, with spots fading and then returning.
Integrative microneedling works on both levels. The microchannels help growth factors and DNA repair enzymes reach the layers where repair happens at a cellular level, while the East Asian techniques support the body beneath. Over a series, skin can find a more even, luminous tone that lasts.
Why Is a Series Worth It?
Your skin renews on its own timeline. A series lets each healing cycle build on the last, so results deepen and last rather than fade.
Each session sets off a healing response that unfolds over the following weeks, as your skin gradually builds fresh collagen. You may notice a brighter, fresher look within a day or two, but the deeper change happens quietly in the weeks that follow.
When sessions are spaced to follow that natural rhythm, usually around a month or more apart, each one builds on the foundation the last one created. That’s where the lasting, more even results come from. Your esthetician will suggest the rhythm that suits your skin and your goals together, along with how to keep your results going once your series is complete.
There’s something freeing about a series, too. Once it’s booked, the decision is made. You don’t need to find the time or talk yourself into it again. You simply arrive, lie back and let yourself be looked after. For many of our clients, it becomes one of the few wellness rituals in a full life that’s just for them.
When Is the Best Time to Start Integrative Microneedling?
Integrative microneedling can be enjoyed all year round.
There’s no wrong season to care for your skin. On treatment day, you can’t wear sunscreen for 24 hours, so we simply ask you to avoid sun, heat, heavy exercise and sweating for the rest of the day, and to wait 24 hours before wearing makeup. We’ll help you plan around any events or travel.
Fall is a particularly beautiful time to begin. It’s when the pigment and dryness summer brought to the surface become easiest to see, so it’s the perfect moment to care for them at their source. A series started in fall has time to unfold through the winter, well ahead of the next summer sun.
Whatever the season, the best time to start is when you’re ready to give your skin, and yourself, some steady care.
At JLounge, we don’t believe beauty is about chasing a line-free face or freezing time. We see radiant skin as a reflection of vitality, health and balance, and we believe it can grow with you at every stage of life.
Integrative microneedling works with your body’s own wisdom rather than against it. The goal isn’t to erase who you are. It’s to help your skin look alive, healthy and unmistakably like you.
